So, you’re about to interview one of the most famous writers in the world. How do you prepare? It might seem obvious, but books podcast host Claire Nichols says the first step is to read their book.
“So many authors are surprised and delighted when they discover that you’ve actually taken the time to read their novel cover-to-cover,” Claire says. “It’s so important, after all the years of thinking, writing and rewriting they’ve put into their creation.”
Since 2018, Claire has presented ABC RN’s The Book Show, taking listeners on a deep dive in to the lives and minds of some of the world’s best authors. She loves to discover the story behind the story – the moment that inspired a new work of art.
“I’ve learnt the importance of listening to each interviewee to find out what’s most important to them,” Claire says. “I love those magic moments where they discover something new about themselves – or their work – during our conversations.”
Claire will be chairing the “Uniting Humanity Through Creativity” session for UWRF Perth on Sat 23 Oct from 3.00pm. Join her and share in the magic.
